Eskom seeks R140 billion to shift to renewable energy

Eskom, Africa’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases at around 213 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year, is proposing a R140 billion plan that would see 35 000MW of coal-fired power generation replaced with renewable energy by 2050.
